LP on 80m on afternoon of 30th JAN ? Naaah....
Well... the 80m Long Path season is over, or is it?
I decided to go on 30mins to my sunset onto DX Window and call CQ towards Pacific, ZL, etc. and to my surprise I got called by Bob N7UA from WA. What really made me happy was a comment that even he suffers a QRM from neighbors garage lights, and he wasn't tuned to my QRG, he still managed to hear the signal and tune in.
This just shows that it is fine to listen most of the time, but there is need to make some activity on the band also as if everybody would just listen, nobody would hear anything. Apart from me, Joe DK9LJ and Pele SM7EHU also managed to work Bob, which is always nice. Even biggest surprise was that Toon PA7A heard Bob, very light but heard which is just amazing and shows that Toon is first class op and first class station.
Later in the evening / afternoon I heard Allan VK2GR on 160m CW and was delighted to get nice report of 569, while I sent 559. Allan has got superb station and later on 80m he peaked over 10dB over the S9 level, while being 15-30mins past his SR.
